Probably a dumb question, but what is the best way to remove the "flywheel" from the left side of the crank assy I have 2 workshop manuals, the Kawa one says to use a special tool, the Haynes one says use a sprocket puller. My past experience with sprocket pullers has not been good, the legs usually damage the flywheel, especially if it is on real tight.. Any suggestions? Gotta get this engine apart SoupD.

if you have the crank out you can take it to your local bike shop and have them press it off or maybe get lucky and they have the proper threaded removal tool

What ever buddy.. " Why would you want to ride a bike that sounds like a chain saw?" I barked back, " My bike dosn't sound like a chain saw... It sounds like fukin 3 of em buddy... have a nice day eh!" lol

Walms-Should a told him "as long as there's enough environment for me and my Kawi trippple, I really don't give a rats ass about anyone else" or there's the "kick his teeth out" method or smoke the back tire right off method. I've used the first and last methods before. Had 2 wings pass me once, one in left lane, one on my right in my FN lane by Tims in Paris on Green Lane. I made a total scene, told him to take off the full face so I could punch his face in, called him a coward and take the piece of s... home before I kick him and it over. Funny thing is no-one at Tims knew what he did, they just seen me pull in and snap. He got it all three barrels. On lookers got the drift of what "passing on someones right side" can cause- stupidity causes "JUSTIFIABLE ROADRAGE". He looked like he wanted his mommy. I'd a slapped his mom for raising such a stupid ass too. ALl this over a little smoke.....

Why would you want to ride one that doesn't? So much more exciting than a predictable 4 stroker. I get bad looks in my neighbourhood but I don't really care because I have a really big smile on. ;D Gotta admit this thread started getting my blood up. I'm sure others feel the same. BTW, Walms, what was this guy driving? SUV? Pickup? Did he have his coffee in a re-usable mug? Probably not. If he stopped breathing, I could use his air for my three carbs

I'm pretty sure the guy was just trying to be witty... got under my skin just the same though. I've never had to take my flywheel off... Do you use the axle as part of a slide hammer?

I'm not sure about the 400 . On the 350 if you have a front axel off a 69-71 H1 that'll work just fine , you may have to put a spacer in there as the treads are not long enough . I did that as at the time I had no puller . I did buy a puller for $8 thru my local dealer .

Glad I started this thread . I successfully removed the flywheel with the rear wheel axle, it came off without any problems. Splitting the cases turned out to be the major headache, lets just say it took me nearly 3 hrs to locate the "hidden" 6mm nuts.. SoupD.
