And now for a complete change of pace..... Here's a few shots of my western US bike trip in May / June this year. And no, not on my 400! ;D This was a solo ride in which I covered 11,700 Kms and 21 states in 16 days . With a quick ride down to Deals Gap & The tail of the Dragon at the start of the trip, that was a last minute decision. If you have never been to Utah or Colorado it's a must see and on a bike even better!! Enjoy.

Cool trip Steve. Gotta love America's sights and Hiways eh!! I am envious, see this is where a 4 stroke comes in handy.
(damn, there I go again, stupid 4 strokes)

"see this is where a 4 stroke comes in handy."
I don't know about that, my buddy Raimo went to the west coast, down through California, across Death Valley etc. and back on a '77 RD400. Mind you he was like 18 or so and the bike was new at the time.
Then there's the dude on the other board traveling on a Suzuki 750GT Water Buffalo. Forget his board name but puts the miles on the thing! But then 750GT really was the touring 2 stroke of the day.
A trip like that on any triple would be very expensive in fuel cost when you consider the Tractor gets about 50 - 55 mile per gallon on the Highway and even better in the mountains!
" Would you go that distance on your S3?"
NO WAY!!!
I'm afraid I'll be pushing the thing home every time I'm out on it!
But...
If the weather is good for the Tweed weekend I will ride out, and yes I have CAA! ;D ;D ;D

"It's 180km (112 miles) from your house to Ian's via hwy 7. Should take you about 2 hours. " Yup, that's the plan but it should be just over an hour at 9000 rpm.... Yeah right! More like 2-3 hours at 5000 rpm with a few gas stops. The Tractor gets about 450+ kms to a tank the triple....

I put about 10k on my 400 without even as much as changing the plugs... Not in one trip but it could have been. ;D The only 2 times it left me on the road (other then running out od gas... )was because I rode in the rain with a chopped front fender. Funneled the water perfectly to my coils a little hockey tape on the drop tubes and I was good to go. Technically that was my fault too. The other time, my clutch cable slipped out of the socket down by the sprocket but I was able to ride home clutchless. Heck, I still don't have a tool kit I figure it's optional after 3 seasons of trouble free riding!
