Dick, I think the thread you wanted is this one: kawasakitriplesworldwide.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48492&start=30Your comments are interesting. It seems everytime Kaw brought out a new bike they slowed the previous smaller bike down ie H1B was slower than the H1A so not to show up the H2, H2a was slower than H2.. with the release of the Z1, and then Kaw REALLY slowed down the H2B as the H2a was still too fast for the Z1. J / lc, - I drag raced my stock 1972 H2 from 1973-1985. Always got the Z1's off the line but and was ahead at the 1/8 mile; but, it was very close at the 1/4 with the Z1 usually taking the light first. I did manage to beat the C/S record holder (Z1) in 1981 at Atco, NJ with probably the best hole shot I've ever gotten and side by side at the 1/4 mile lights. I won by 0.33 Sec. ... Neat history there Dick. I'm wondering if you had a better power to weight ratio that allowed your holeshot and the better 1/8th mile time, but the Z1's possible greater total HP is what would give it the advantage (against aero drag) at the end of the course? J

The GPz900 or ZX900 Ninja in Canada looks like it took a big jump back in the mid eighties.
That was one of my favorite bikes that I've owned, it so much better in every way over the GPz1100 that it replaced.

In 1973 Cycle Magazine asked the same question in their "Quickie Kings" test. Here are their results, both bikes tested on the same track, same day, same driver. Other bikes were also tested but they were all quite a bit slower than the two K bikes. When it came to the H2 they stated "When it comes to a dragstrip the H2 is in HOG HEAVEN !"

One of the more interesting results of the Cycle Magazine comprehensive tests was the H2s performance on the road racing circuit. Everyone always said the frame sucked but it more than held it's own with the bikes that were supposed to be great handling bikes. And the CB750 was almost dead last in all the tests.

- From my years of street riding with all kinds of guys who thought they had a hot bike, I can tell you that what the H2 lacked in the corners, you can make up fast coming out of the corner with the acceleration.
- The H2 may not get many MILES/GALLON; but, it get lots of SMILES/MILES! Oh flys in my teeth!

At the ManCup race last weekend there were 25 bikes in S/E, wide range of bikes from CB750s and H2s to modern Busa's and ZX14's. The modern bikes ranged from near stock to a turbo Busa and Nitrous 14s. No. 1 qualifier, quickest bike in the field....a 1972 H2.
