Do you get spark just by opening the points by hand not wedging a screw driver between the contacts ? If no spark it could be dirty points. A buzz box works great by having a continuous buzz when points are closed indicating dirty points..

Just to add to suggestion.... Check for zero ohms resistance with meter between point contacts when closed. If not zero (or close to it) clean with alcohol and fine sand paper or nail file. Otherwise it could be that wires are not properly attached to points.

Hi i have now got 2 plugs sparking as thet should but cant get the other to spark at plug have swapped coil wire to make sure coil is ok and it is good the points are a new set from a yamaha rd 400 which i had to take the shaft of as on the h1b the points go over the shaft on the stator plate when i say shaft its the brass pin where the cirvlip holds the points on maybe they dont work on the triple h1b

Maybe a dumb question on my part but, why don't you get the correct points?

Reason being is that no one in the uk has any and the shipping from usa is very expensive but on a brigter not ive now got it running on all 3 cylinders this bike was locked solid on the piston rings which i drilled out the pistons which left the rings still in the cylinders i then got a mate to turn a lenght of wood down to 59mm in diameter and thenstuck the cylinders in the freezer then used my press to press the rings outthe bike is to good to restore a bit scruffy but 100% original
