What should the voltage be between the black & green brush wires when key is on. I’m getting 1.6 volts with brush in place gr to bl Removed brush , green to ground 12vlts. Green to black brush with brush touching ground 5.8 vlts I’m guessing this is correct?

Ian, Often the h1a and h1b alternator rotors will bench test OK. However, in actual service with engine running the windings will open and as such the rotor will not function. Have a look at the glue joint between the casting and the commutation for a crack. If cracked the commutator is likely vibrating and the leads under the comutator to the internal windings have likely failed. These leads are accessible should you try a repair. A great two more mods for your charging system are these: kawatriple.com/tips/regulator/regrecconversion.htmBe sure to select the wiring drawing for your H1B. J

Thanks Scott
So far everything points to the rotor. Walms gave me a spare he had, I’ll know Thursday when I fit it,
