Has anyone installed a rear disc on an early H1 ?? Looking at thenext project from Drew with a KZ rear wheel and disc brake with an H2 swingarm. I have a couple ideas but maybe someone had a better idea.

The kz1000 rear wheel and disk weigh a ton. I would go to an Yamaha rz350 rear and front. They are not spokes and very Light.Both18”. If you are trying to stick with spokes you don’t have to many choices. The best would be tz Yamaha. The 400 rd Yamaha also had them but but most came here with mags so they are as scarce as hens teeth. If you want a pic of what the Rz mags look like dig up an old pic of Drewski’s h2.He had Yamaha fz600 wheels and front end but the style is the same as the rz350.but the rz350 stuff is much lighter. The Yamaha front end is a direct bolt on,you just use the Kawasaki bottom bearing or the balls on the triple tree and the Yamaha top bearing or balls. I have thought of this swap and just happen to have an rz350 front end and wheels.I also have an rz350 swing arm and shock if you want to go that route. You never use the back brake anyway so if you want to keep spokes I would go to an old dirt bike drum brake and wheel.Usually they have an aluminum rim. Brad

Yes, very pricey. I think mine will work but I haven't got to it yet. Other stuff to complete on this bike before the final rear wheel thing.

Have a KZ750 front end, just bolt on and swing arm rear brake... needs 1/8" cut from each side 1/4" total, then bolts on... will let you know how it goes... with pics

Keeping spoked wheels is much cooler in my opinion. I prefer to make a lot of the stuff myself instead of trying make existing stuff fit.
