I got this H1F Orange is the new F because the PO did a re-bore and new pistons and cooked 2 of his new pistons. He put pods and Wirges on it and it seems that he didn't change the jetting. You can still see the hash marks from honing.
I am looking at the Resource Centre and see that carbs and needle jets and needles are the same for D/E and F. Throttle cut aways are also the same. A magazine that I was reading says that the porting is the same for all these models. The D/E have a bigger main at 92.5 as compared to the F at 90 and D/E has the needle clip at 4 , a notch richer than the F at position 3.
Question 1 : Can I change to the D/E jets and needle position for more power ?
2: With pods and Wirges should I add say, 2 sizes of main up to 97.5 ? I am also aware that Wirges gives more noise than actual performance boost but they came with the bike and I am poor. I realize that I will have to experiment but want a logical starting point. I have never had one of the newer years H1.
3: I prefer to have the pods because it is easier to play with the carbs as opposed to using the standard air box. Or, do I use the airbox with a K&N filter in it? What would the comparison between the 2 be ?

Jetting difference is because of airbox between the models. Wirges will use same as stock for jetting. Stock box without snorkel is better than pods. Foam filters are better than pods. Use H1E jetting as reference.... set timing to 25deg and increase main size for better performance.

Dave
You can cut out the inside end baffles and shorten the belly section to around 6.5 inches to get Wirges pipes that actually perform well.
Dave C (Ned) has this done to his 1975 h1.
"Acceleration" has also done this mod to the h1 wirges..
Check with both the above for the final length the belly was shortened to.

We can confirm that the the Wirges have a serious internal restriction, added cone silencer as LC mentioned. It gets worse because they get clogged up and making it even worse. We had posted some pictures of a an H1 D that we cut opened the pipes and removed that extra baffle. It is located at the rear of last cone just before the primary baffle. It is spot welded in place and quite often they come loose and fall out inside. We also shortened the belly and rewelded. The pipes worked well after that. There were some pictures we posted of that cutting and welding. But too bad they can't be accessed now. We ended up with a 95 main jet and moved the clip one notch richer. And it runs good. The H1F I had also ended up with 95'S with the DENCOS I had on it.

I am sorry I don't have those pictures saved any more. I guess they can't be pulled up from this forum anymore in some way ? They are or were here. Maybe someone with more photo know how than I have can help ?

Since the photobucket fiasco, I bought the Tapatalk app for a couple bucks and they host everything. So far just the initial price of $2 only. Unlike photobucket’s demand of $5 per month to host... 🖕 BTW, take a pic and post directly from cell phone so super fast and easy.

Btw, it is also possible to go to photobucket and view your own photos. You just can’t share them. I go there to screen shot my old photos and repost under Tapatalk if I really need to.

Yes, you can download your own photos from the old albums. They just reached too high when they started asking for money. I think initially they wanted several hundred bucks! ..how about no!!

Bored today so I took the Wirges up to my local garage and cut and welded them up. Well, actually I held them while my friend welded them. We'll see what happens soon.

They seem OK. I have some grinding to do on the welds for curb appeal and then paint.

Did you re-locate the pipe mounts during your welding session?
