Hope everyone’s able to ride! Working on a ‘74 H1 with problems. Various lights & switches have various degrees of operation. Some lights are dim or unlit while others are bright. Some switches work sometimes. So I’ve decided to replace the handlebar switch gear. Found reproduction left side but the right side I bought fits a KH or S series. I’m confused by the single blue wire vs dual blue. Is there a way to make this switch work? MAXRL, in an old thread eluded to a solution but I was unable to find it. Also while I was in the headlight I found brittle, broken wires aplenty. I bought a replacement main harness from Z1 parts. The harness showed up creating more questions. Example; no plugs at the headlight end of the harness. Just bullet connectors. There’s also a black and blue wire about midway down the line that appear to be frame mountable? One (Black) is a ground. The blue? No idea and I can’t locate it on the H1 schematic. Seems like I bit off more than I can chew....... again.

Had the same issue, if you have a bl/wh line its the wrong control. I bought the same switches, they're for later model. The solid bl line runs from left to right as a power feed for the tach and speedo light. From iggy switch 6pin conn to right side handle bar switch, out to left handle bar switch, also to the 4 pin instrument conn. Goes into the left side switch and comes out as rd/yw to the head light, blues basically a power source it also connects to an open bn/wh lead for what ever, fog lamp etc. Hope this helps this is from my wiring notes.

Thanks Shiloh. That answers one question I forgot to ask. After looking a bit harder I think I need to clarify. The old original righthand switch/case has a 4 pin connector and two individual blue wires. One has a single male end bullet connector while the other has a dual female connector. They are connected while another blue goes off to the left dimmer I believe.
The new switch/case assembly has a four wire connector with a lone individual br/wht wire.
Plus I’ve determined the new harness isn’t supposed to have connectors?

Your new assembly is marketed as correct but works with the later models, not a 1974. using a correct 1974 H1E wiring diagram and harnesses you`ll have no problems sorting it all out, it is tedious, do one circuit at a time. Cheers
