I am impatient waiting for an ignition switch. If I use a jumper wire , according to the wiring diagram, the white and brown go together for on. When I do this, I get the neutral light but no spark. Do I need another to power the ignition? Ignition is shown as bl/wh and ground blk/yellow but under "off"

To get spark just disconnect the white wire at the CDI box. If you put 12v on that wire it will destroy the CDI. No battery power is needed for spark. If the engine is started there will be no way to stop it unless choked or stalled.

Put in a toggle switch basic on off. Thats how I wired my 72. I put the switch under the seat, switch off kills ignition.
