Hi all, After some expert info please, i have set my float heights at 25mm from base of carb (gasket removed) to top of the float when inverted on all 3 carbs, At the BACK of the carbs ONLY, On all 3 carbs they weep petrol, Where the float bowl joins the carb, I have replaced all 3 float valves and needles, All 3 float bowl gaskets using genuine kawasaki parts, The haynes manual i have, Says the float height should be 30mm +1 , All floats seem fine with no holes or twists, They don't look to be catching anywhere, any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Float bowls are warped from someone cranking them down way too much Probably correct, but the fuel level should be lower than the top of the bowl so they wouldn't weep whilst sitting still on the centre stand - riding is another story as the fuel sloshes around like crazy.

Thank you both for your reply's, Seems strange all 3 are warped, They never did get wet round that area, i have not really tightened the bowls with force, This does happen when its been ticking over on the center stand, I turn the bike off and look at them and all 3 are wet in that area, I also thought, The petrol should not come up that high ??

That Haynes manual can get you into trouble in several areas. Fuel level is 30mm, float height is 24mm... two different things. kawatriple.com/carbspec.htmlkawatriple.com/manuals/maint/contents.htm

Yes it would do, Just checked the haynes manual again and it definitely says 30+1 mm, I was looking at the same sites you messaged me, before i joined this forum, Thats why i set them at 25mm, They still weep though

Pressure test with a Mity Vac the needles and seats. Remove the carb, hook the vac up to it and pump in a 5 PSI - if it doesn’t hold 5 psi the needle it junk

Stand a carb on a flat level surface so the float is hanging(engine side) use a small ruler to measure the float hieght from the gasket surface bend the float tab to adjust the hieght. (24/25mm) This way there is no down force on the valve plunger. This is the way I've always done it with no issues. If they still weep I'm going to guess the mateing surfaces or gaskets are knackered. In which case you could use a fuel proof sealant on both sides of the gaskets. Too much fuel should come out the over flow drain, not through the bowl gasket. Measure again, triple check if all else fails use a sealant, or ditch them and install modern carbs. Some times these old carbs will not cooperate no matter what. Just my 2c worth.
