While we are on the subject of jets.I have some early h1 carbs that have round main jets.I have only ever seen hex jets in any other triple carbs.I know Suzuki used some round jets but I have never seen Kawasaki.I am thinking some one just shoved round jets in where hex jets belong. Can any one confirm? Brad ALL Triples were fitted with large round mains from the factory.

I am not saying you are wrong, just trying to get to the bottom of this. Both my 71's had hex jets,My 400 had hex jets, now to be fair they were all race bikes I bought in racing condition. Also I have had a couple of sets of 34mm with hex jets.I now your sight says they are all reverse jets(large round)So I go to the manual which is for H1,KH and H2. There in plain sight it shows a diagraham of three different main jet types and says all three types are used on different models.also different needle jets are used on early h1,late h1/kh,and H2. Brad
sorry didn't mean to hijack this thread just looking for answers.

Factory kawi triple carbs used round jets. Those and the needles where propriatary and now are though to find. Thats not to say experamenting with modern stuff cant be done, it'd be time consuming and youd be left with a pile brass. Some where here there is a chart of who used what in various set ups.

Believe what you wish but ALL street Triples were fitted with large round (reverse) main jets when they left the factory... VM 22, 24, 26, 28, & 30. Furthermore, stock needle jets are not threaded for Hex jets.

If the carbs have been fitted different series needle jets in the past then hex type (Amal type)jets sometimes have to be used because of the different thread used in the bottom of the needle jet body

No problem,These bikes are all pretty old so anything is possible.Never had the jets out of my new 71 back in the day so I don't know about that.Like I said three race bikes all had hex jets.Havent checked my fourth one.Maybe hex jets are better for tuning than the round. That might explain it.Most of the other triples I had came in pieces with the brass cleaned out of the carbs. That is why I was shocked to see round in this set.Why would the manual show three different types and say each was used in different models? Why wouldn't they just show one if only one is used? It's a mistery. Brad I think the hex jets come in much bigger diameters, but I'm pretty sure they have different threads on them than round.

A perspective of our experiences and it might be worth what you pay for it. Nothing ? LOL !!! We get and use after market brass jets all the time and have never had a problem with them. They are through Sudco. We have been using them, tuning the Kawasaki Triples and Yamaha's we have been working on in the shop over the past several years.Matter of fact we used them on the two TRZ 250'S we tuned for our friend Eric and more recently on the RD350LC we just restored for him.And I used them on my H1 500.Perhaps as Walms suggests. If they are all the same size they are OK.I have not compared them to Mikuni's lately.Because we have used them, and installed them and they work and have not had any problems. We do use the Mikuni's and have some sizes.I am not suggesting to anyone to use the aftermarket ones.I am am just giving perspective that we are using them. They are working and we have not had any problems tuning with them. And if we tune a bike for someone and they specifically want Mikuni's we will go the distance to get them and use them.
