Just wondering how important it is to use genuine mikuni brass in my 34 mm round slide carbs. I went to my local bike dealer and asked specifically for genuine mikuni pilots for my mikuni carbs . When I got home with my order I noticed the pilots do not have the mikuni logo on them . When comparing the knock off pilots with a genuine mikuni pilot I see differences using an eye loop. Should I be concerned or am I over reacting ? Can someone please advise me. Thanks guys. Randy

I would not use any jets other than genuine Mikuni. All reports from those who have tried substitutes say they're not even close to the same. Carb rebuild kits generally have non-Mikuni part too, by the way.

Thanks Jim. I’m not one to complain but if I ask for something specific, that’s what I expect . Nothing more nothing less. Thanks again . I will return them. 👍🏽

I have compared main jet sizes between genuine and aftermarket garbage, and that’s exactly what it is. Garbage. When you can put a number drill in the aftermarket one and it won’t fit in the OE one - that’s enough to only use the gaskets from the kit and throw the rest in the garbage

If the kit has a float needle and seat you can probably use those, along with the gaskets.

Keyster kits are non-mikuni. And Jim that’s exactly what I did.... used the gaskets, needle & seat, choke plunger and saved the rest for emergencies. Jets were wrong size anyway. S3 jets in come in the KH kit.

Many have been down that road, genuine brass is scarce and expensive if you can find it. The other option is Ivans kits and they're not cheap either. Best option is new/modern carbs.

They must have piles of NOS stuff because factory brass which was made specifically for Kawi triples hasn`t been made for decades.?? As mentioned above, new carbs is the best option as oem brass is plentiful. The trick is finding the right carb that works the best for the given application. Hence the OKO`s on my S3/500(real oko`s, not cheap chinese knock-offs)

I've read somewhere that this is how they do it at mikuni, they check flow and mark the jets accordingly.

Well you may be right on that because I do not have a flow bench. I am just going by a number drill

While we are on the subject of jets.I have some early h1 carbs that have round main jets.I have only ever seen hex jets in any other triple carbs.I know Suzuki used some round jets but I have never seen Kawasaki.I am thinking some one just shoved round jets in where hex jets belong. Can any one confirm?
