I am new to these triples. Just got a 1975 400 s3 on the road yesterday. Took it for a rip and I used 3/4 of a thank of fuel and barely used any Oil? Is this typically just wonder the ratio ? Three tanks of fuel to one tank of 2 stroke oil Any help would be appreciated. Just don't want to blow up the bike lol

That sounds about right. When I've figured out what my H2 uses, it comes out to average about 50:1. But when you open the throttle, it's a lot more than that. It's nice not having to carry a bottle of oil around on rides, isn't it?

Thanks, I might be over aware or something Jim. I just thought that these bikes would be not as efficent in the oil usage. For , I found out yesterday that these things love the gas lol

How much gasoline they use depends a lot on jetting. I've worked to get my H2 down to as lean as is safe in the area of cruise throttle, and it does about 30 mpg. If I raise the needles a notch in an effort to do something like reduce surging, it drops below 25. I figure 100-120 miles to reserve is bad enough.
