I've decided to adopt several methods and see what I get.. 1st up..PROTECT THAT PAINT! I wrapped the tank in plastic followed by anti corrosive papper. *i ended up adding duct tape to all the edges to prevent tearing Using a stone slurry media a shook the snot out of the tank to eliminate any loose corrosion I then cleaned off the media mixed it with this gell and then repeated to coat the entire inside surface. After approximately 30min the results are already clear I'm going to let it soak over night. Next steps: -Soak in cleaning Viniger -Soak in Evapo Rust -seal it up (debating on what with..)

After 5 hours the gell dried up As per instructions I washed it out with water. The results are pretty clear now. Any remaining rust has all turned black and when i scrapped it with a screwdriver it just flaked off. Seeing how i can't physically scrub the inside I'm continuing on with the ckeaning viniger to help remove the black residue. I'm thinking of only doing it for 24hours seeing how that gell took care of the rust pretty good. I filled the tank right up to the top. A bit spilled out and Im really hoping it didnt find its way onto the paint.

Maybe you could try a bit of Kerosene and some small nuts and bolts to swish around in there after all the acid treatments?

Sure seems like a lot of jerkin around to me Peter. After the slurry to loosen the crap, why not just fill it with Evaporust and wait 2-3 days. I had one as bad as yours and ER cleaned it up nicely. Vinegar is a slow assed method in my book. A waste of money. With ER all you do is dump it out and you dont even need to rinse the tank. One of the company's marketing aspects is the fact that it will leave an anti rusting film on the metal you treat. ! ! !

Well to each his, as they say. I am a firm believer and big fan of the Evaporust method. A before and after of some H1E shocks. 2 day soak.

To be perfectly honest it was a bit of an experiment / what I had handy at the time.
I've also decided to go with the Caswells tank sealer because this bike is never intended to be ridden (I know I know) so I figured I would do that then never have to worry about it rusting again.

I don't suppose it may be something you'd want to sell in the not so distant future?

Metal rescue is sheet , it can't get all the rust out , it leave some black residue and last 1/2 longer than Evaporust . I just did a tank last week and found that using a power washer help a lot for cleaning the tank before treatment also for final cleaning before the resin coating . Just use a hair dryer/paint tripper gun to dry it thoroughly .

So I opted for the Caswell's kit. I know it's the more costly option but mom always says to try everything atleast once ...mostly I'd prefer a physical barrier to protect the metal from oxidizing. It was a little finiky to use for the 1st time however I was happy with the result. I took balvo's advice and only used half the kit for 1 tank.
