Can I use tap water on my EX 500 for track day ? I can't find distilled water in my neighbourhood, all sold out for some stupid reason , and I am not gonna pay $20 for 12 oz of wetter water for the rad . I am just afraid tap water will corrode the insides of the aluminum cooling system .

Funny, I was looking for reverse osmosis water for the road trip to RB's but I didn't feel like paying $2 a litre at a gas station... I asked Steve to stop at the first drug store we find and I got 4 litres for a 1.50 or something like that... In other words, go to your local grocery store or drug store and you'll find it.

I read somewhere that deionized is not recommended for aluminum systems ... I did find 4 jugs of distilled at another store far from my place ...$1.50 a jug Thanks for the responses ...

Ya its neutral, doesnt attract minerals or metal ions, that bad. Tap water is bad too, tons of mineral solids and chlorine, and you know how corrosive chlorine is. So Mike, what givr said. Ctc or your local grocer or pharmacy.

Water from your dehumidifier will work too if you have one.

For one track day it won't matter what you use. It'll be mixed 5050 with glycol. Use tap water and then drain it if you're concerned.

I rinsed the glycol out and put distilled in . Bike has not run since last summer at Cayuga. Engine turned over twice and started . Wow . ran it up to temp and checked water level . all good so far . Will check it again tomorrow with another run up . .
