Underneath my 1967 A7SS engine casing there is an outlet (looking underneath for the front, this in located on the RH side) - see the attached photo. This is leaking oil and it seems like there is some type of packing of sealing ring in this outlet which to my mind should be a screw of bolt? In the checking the parts drwg, this does not show any specific details, therefore can anyone advise what this is ie; should there be a screw or bolt in this position? Thanks - Syd]

A picture is necessary to comment accurately. Have no idea on the A7, maybe h2dude can chime in....
To be honest, I've never replaced an oil drain crush washer/seal ever on my cars or bikes, never had a leak. I'd check the sealing surfaces for debris or if they have bad nicks in them.

I faintly recall seeing a bike with a wire mesh filter, similar to the type you'd see on pneumatic valves but old school

Like the sintered bronze type with a pipe thread, I believe it's to drain fuel from an over flowing carb but not positive.

Yes, I think you are correct about the drain hole - I'll check this out further

There is a small mesh looking plug that is indeed a drain hole in case of gas leakage. What oil is leaking? 2 stroke or motor oil?
