ok on the left hand carb whats this for and should it have the black rubber cap on

with the cap off It is a vacuum port that should run a hose to the fuel petcock. When running the vacuum tells the petcock to release fuel. Also to close when no vacuum is present. Without it, you could still run with your petcock in the PRIME position.

Thanks mate , I don't remember seeing another line off the petcock? when you say PRIME position you mean not on reserve , so if I don't use it you would put the black cap back on

Hmmm. Most of the aftermarket petcocks have only the 3 outlets (no vacuum) so my guess is that's why that thing was blocked off.

yes ive checked and the new petcocks only have 3 outlets on thank you for all yr input guys

Not that it matters much but that carb is normally on the right side. Is that the only carb you have with the vacuum port?

Technically yes, its a shorter distance to the vacuum attachment on the stock petcock when its on the right and the connecting hose isn't as visible
