40 Volume Creme Developer by Salon Care
Slather the part with this stuff. Put it in a zip lock bag. Set in the sun for 8 hours(preferably 60 and above) Take it out of the bag and rinse. This stuff is about 5 bucks and change.
It works pretty well and may save you from trying to find a better looking pricey part.

Ingredients WATER ,HYDROGEN PEROXIDE ,CETEARYL ALCOHOL ,CETEARETH-20 ,CETYL ALCOHOL ,STEARIC ACID ,PHOSPHORIC ACID ,TETRASODIUM EDTA ,ETIDRONIC ACID John G in Washington told me to use mineral spirits or mineral oil and do the same thing to soften up the air intakes on my 400. Maybe it was wintergreen?? I have a memory like a fart in a wind storm at times. MOST times that is.......

Hydrogen peroxide is a bleach. It might do the job all by itself.

Yep is does bleach it.I just found that the combo of creme and sun works for me. HP you would have to immerse the whole part and soak it.

How did you actually figure this out? LOL - were you bleaching your hair? I agree peroxide would work, but the part will lose all the elastomers ...so the cream might have those beneficial elements in it.

At my age, I am thankful just to have a full head of hair and does not matter what color it is.
