I'd like to put an inverted front end,a wider swing arm and mags on a 73,does anyone know what ones will bolt up with the least amount of hassle? I'm not set up for a bunch of welding or fabricating so would like to make it as idiot proof as possible.
Thanks, Bill

I bought 2 zx9 front ends from rick that will work. Just need the right tapered bearings from allballs racing. Fzr400 or fzr600 swingarms have the same pivot width as h1/h2. Rear shock mounts will need to be welded on. Also, unless you have the complete rear end you may need to fab spacers for your wheel of choice. Drewski used fz600 components front and back on the mongrel. His build thread is in the Projects section.

No matter which way you go with this, there's going to be SOME fabricating and welding. There's really no avoiding that. If you go with the inverted forks, they usually require new fork stops at the very least. A wheel and brakes might require some work as well unless you buy a complete front end. As far as the rear end goes, the most important thing to decide how wide you wish to go. Anything much wider than a 140mm rear tire will require significant modifications to get the chain past the rear frame, etc. I think the best way to go about this is to come up with a unified plan for the front and rear together. Decide if you want both wheels to have the same spoke pattern or 'look'. Once you decide on things like that, decide how wide you want to go with the rear wheel. Then look for opportunities to secure complete front and rear assemblies, maybe even off the same bike! In my case, I bought a bike with a blown engine, took what I wanted and sold the rest. It worked out to a $200 investment that yielded a complete front end rear end with wheels, brakes and suspension.

Great advice,I do plan to buy one or two wrecks to get what I need,it's nice to know what wrecks to look for because fabricating can get pricey.
Now that I have your attention, does anyone know the stock clutch cable length for an H-2? I don't know where I bought the one I'm using, but it has to be four inches too long. I heard that an S3 cable will work and it's 4.5 inches shorter than a stock one which would help because I'm putting on lower Superbike bars.
Thanks, Bill

Just slide the fork tubs into the H2 triple clamps are you are done. Upgrade with tapered bearings. The tubes stick up an extra inch to keep the same height. Rear swing arm needs to be cut down about 1/8" per side but come with needle bearings and are about the same length as 72-73 swinger which is better on 73-74 too. Provides alloy wheels and disc brakes all around and keeps stock type shocks. No welding or fabrication needed short of grinding 1/8" off the swinger mount tube.
