Hey there, I'm in the process of outfitting two BMW turbo airhead bikes for Bonneville. Regulations state I need a handlebar mounted kill switch within reach of the grip as well as a tether kill switch.
So, my question is do you guys have any recommendations as to a good quality kill switch?
The last thing we want is a failure out there with a stinkin kill switch. I've been looking at MPS or Pingell but not sure if one is more favorable. Sorry I know its not a triple but this is a fine trusted community of enthusiasts, any help is appreciated. And if anyone is interested I can post pictures. One is a blow through carb turbo setup and the other is a suck through with a 1050 kit, hoping to set some records. thanks Skye

Never used an MPS but Pingell is too notch.

I'm not a fan of the momentary kill switch, (The type you have to hold down) as you cant always push it and hold it when your in trouble, especially if your bikes in gear it will start back up again. I prefer the on/off kill switch found on snowmobiles. (red button type) These also have an inherent problem as you cant tell if its on or off by a visual glance, and sometimes killing the battery if your using that as your main source for power. or it wont start because its been activated. I have the kill button wired into the neutral light on the tach, when the kill switch is on... the neutral light is on. Also I wired in a switch on the dash for power.... Just to be sure.

Thanks guys. I coughed up the extra coin on the pingel. Whenever this sloppy mess dries up I'll get both bikes on the dyno and get some numbers. Skye

- During my drag racing days, I wired a set of car points to the low voltage side of the ignition and used a piece of rubber with as nylons string that I attached to my right thumb. It passed tech and worked great!

This is the one I removed. Something tells me it's not quite up to code. I got the Pingel installed and it's a nice looking unit. Skye

And here's the bike. I'm sure something in this picture is triple related. Ignore the mess, this was midway through the new wiring. Skye
