Spoked wheels under the bench from an XS650, going to be pulled apart and rebuilt. New piston, valves and guides on order and new rod kit I had in stock. Nothing extravagant, over bore and re and re crank and seals. Going to port it like we do the other big singles in the shop to help it breathe with the VM36 that was given to me. going to road race in VRRA next season so I can spend this summer/fall working the kinks out of it.

Needs a bigger tank. Speaking with another fellow that races a TT500, and from my own experience with my old one, these things are a tank, and need a big diet before they see the track. Hence the small fuel tank. It may or may not stay on it, I like it because it is kinda cool and fits nicely while the stock SR tank is a big lump of a thing. I am contemplating lacing up some aluminum rims onto the XS hubs, and lightening the hubs a bit in the lathe, physics 101, less rotating mass equals more speed... The flywheel will be removed and chucked into the lathe to be lightened, the bonus with doing that is it takes out any "hop" that might be in a 30 year old machine. Again, less rotating mass (especially on a flywheel) the quicker it will rev....

Lots of guys used those motors for flat track back then, I bet you could find all sorts up old hopped up or lightened parts around. You just need to get in touch with the right guy.

I have actually spoke to Linc a lot, if I had the cash I would be buying his TT500 dirt bike to ride around here on dirt...

Tighten up the over lap... It'll help with the lower compression and build stronger mid range power
