Hello Guys I finally got my bike started about a month ago after 27 years and and i thought that i had the tank cleaned out enough it looked ok. Lol Well guys as you know about a month later the new gas in the tank started to react with the rust and vanish that was in the tank and plug up my carbs (small crack in petcock filter). So i re-cleaned the carb and did some investigating on the best way to clean the tank out. Vinegar,Evapo-rust, sand you name it! lol I bought Metal Rescue check out www.workshophero.com this stuff is great! I put 4 litres $41.00 in the tank left it for about 2 hrs, every ten minutes i rotated the tank. I laid it on its sides for a couple of hrs. Then i dumped the stuff and rinsed the tank with distilled water. Well! Ps I will be installing in line gas filters too!

Another thing that works well and is dirt cheap is a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water. Although the Vinegar and Water mixture takes a very long time compared to those specialty rust removing concoctions. Evaporust was all the craze a few years ago on the board it works well too. browney out

Canadian tire. I used one gallon and would just tilt the tank a different direction every 6 hours or so. In my Hercules tank I dumped in the gallon of used and fulled the rest up with water.... And it still worked!

I have been an Evaporust fan forever, but that looks to have done as good a job on your tank. Evaporust is about 25-28 $USD a gallon. I used a gallon of it to clean up 4 tanks before retiring it. Not to mention, soaking stator plates and coils and a lot of other rusted pieces. Simply run it through some cheese cloth and pour it back in the bottle. When it gets really dark, toss it out. Biodegradable and environmentally safe they tout....
Going to see if that product is available around here.

I bought the same stuff at CTC too. It was right beside Eva po Rust but EVR was about $15 a litre. This was half the price. mercenary Ba$terds are also cheap ba$terds.

I used it on a tank, took 2 days in a very warm room along with physical descaling with several flushes to remove the crap. I filtered the product with a paint filter each time. The tank pictured above was in pretty good condition compared to mine. While the stuff works ok there are better ways like acid or electrolysis for nasty situations. For what it is though it did improve my tank by a decent factor, however the external filters stay on. With 2 OEM internal finger screen filters (main and reserve), a petcock bowl filter and 3 inline filters I should be ok. Best thing about the product is it is safe around paint and rubber. I'd give it a pass too. Got mine from crappy tire for about 30 skins. rt
