I can get a 2001 r1 cheap, my brother bike...I want to build a track only bike with it, and of course I'd prefer a two-stroke

Tough to beat the cheap R1 if you are thinking performance only track bike and I believe the 500 is expensive to rebuild.

Anybody else wonder why 1000 supersports are sold to the general public? Don't get me wrong, I love them but top speed in first is 138km...lol

you can find an RZ500 engine for sale probably 3 or 4 times a year, more often in Europe I suppose but it'll cost between $3000 - $8000 dollars

Yeah...um..not doing that...lol. rd's aren't more reasonable? The 500 is a V4 2 stroke, kind of a rare bird

I know the Suzuki are really rare, the Yamaha seems to be a little more common

Yeah...um..not doing that...lol. rd's aren't more reasonable? I think the RD500 and RZ500 is the same thing - both rare and expensive ...and yeah, you have to deal with 2 cranks!

RZ 500 is case AND port reed, the RG is rotary valve. both motors are delicate, and hard to find parts for. $$$$$$$$$

I can get the bike for next to nothing so putting another 10000$ into it to basically make it slower, don't make sense. Be way cooler but an r1 is an amazing bike...just a pipe dream I guess

Ya, even if you could, it wouldn't be worth using it for a track only machine. Stick with a 600 or, if you're really nuts, maybe a 1000 sportbike. Way more practical and fun in the long run.

I know guys like you. "Give me bigger, badder, faster!"
