The hardest part is the head pipes

The hardest part is the head pipes Thats exactly right Curtis and as lame as the guys ad is, it does make sense. I had thought about using stock down tubes a few times when reading about pipes. Its a common subject in pipe building threads i have seen. ie. tapered as opposed to straight and how many cones it takes etc... You would have thought the dude smart enough to bead blast or sand the pipes to make them look better though eh??? LOL

For sure, if and when I build a set of Andrews pipe, This is exactly what I`ll be doing, finding an acceptable set of head pipes and going from there. I really don`t believe any performance loss would be that noticeable if at all. For that matter just bashing around with straight pipes and a muffler would probably do in a pinch as well.

I thought a few of the manufacturers started behind the head pipes, like J&R power pipes and Jemco's But not nearly the cool factor and perhaps performance? Does it make a big difference?

Maybe I should design a quick and dirty pipe that would clamp on to a set of stock headers and see? On the simulator, that is...

What is the ID of a Wirges anyway? Something like 42 or close... A fella could put a taper down to 38mm for the 500. Knockoff half of the belly, ditch the arse end of the pipe and replace it with a 17 deg cone... She'd work beauty!
