I had the pleasure of seeing this bike...just a gorgeous machine, great work. Love it Ha, thanks! Looks like part of my electrical 'issues' with the kz might have been a screwed lithium ion battery. I wish there was some more good weather to get some seat time in. I'll probably have to wait until next season to verify this.

I have mixed feelings on the lithium ion batteries...
They require a special charger for when they are not in a unit.... Do you change your bikes charging system to accommodate for that as well ?
Just some "food for thought"

I've used lipo's in rc cars and they're finicky. Small, light, amazing power but they work or they don't. There's no slowly dying, they just shut off. I would assume over charging them would not work out either. The reason I decided against them

When I was building the Mach chicken I had debated using a lithium based battery. Did some research, lots of negatives it seemed. Not enough to offset the small and light weight. I had even chatted with a battery guy about building a battery based on "ABC" cells. In the end I opted for a gel cell. The same battery that a Yamaha ttr50 uses. I only paid about $35 for it and it was still small enough for me to accommodate. You might be best staying away from lithium based batteries?

Reviving this Project with a new 'look'. More to come on this. Of course, it's not as straight forward as I thought it was going to be.

Had to 'trim' the heck outta the tail piece, license plate and light bracket to make this fit. LOTS more of that ahead!

Here it is: Since I'll never have a 'true' '73 z1, this is the next best thing. I 'fell' for this colour combination the first time i laid eyes on it! It was my passion and pursuit for many decades and now I have the next best thing. The z1 body work is subtly different than the kz1000. More different than I realized. There were a number of mods to get the tail and the side covers to fit. I'm truly trilled with the 'look' though! At the same time, I decided to go back to a stock z1 headlight. It just looks way better than the one I had on it before. This Project is finally done. This is my keeper!
