Ya, as long as you have one to ride while you messin' around, you're golden. I still have lots to learn in this regard. It's a good theory, but I had 2 down for most of one summer. You know what that led to... 3's a charm!

I have the parts for a 400 and a G3... It seems that they take the back burner though.... Something I'm trying to change, just need to quit working on my 500! rofl

It is all apart. Looks good inside. A lot cleaner then I expected. The crank is a full roller set up like the triples. I was thinking at least the mains were going to be bearing inserts like the CBX. The CBX rods and mains are all inserts. The cases are off to the machine shop tonight for a trip through the dishwasher and then they will be going for soda blasting.

Looks great Ned. No messing around on that job I see. Your moving right along.
Did you get to check the pistons and bore's yet? They are probably good as new.
You should get a spring compressor and disassemble the head yourself too. The head inspection is quite strait forward as described in the manual and you can get a good idea of what it may need to get back into top shape.(if anything) You probably know someone that would do it but it's nice to see for yourself and let them do any required work and re-assemble.
It's going to be a great bike when your all done.

I want to get them back together before I start the barrels and head. And I do have a spring compressor and will be taking care of the head myself. The KZ head should be child's play. I did the head on my CBX. 24 valves and 4 cams! That was fun!

Well, I wimped out and paid Gord Bush to do the head for me. Looks purdy. The bores all measured up nicely and the pistons too. I have a set of rings coming so I should be able to get the engine completed over Christmas. Then I have to be nice to Chromeit! to get the tins done. Can anyone guess the album in the background?

Tom Waits asylum years. Good stuff there. Interested to know costs and details on the head work, PM me if you're inclined to share.

nice and clean work, what was Gord's turnaround time for the head? If you don't need too many parts, pretty quick it seems! Mine needed a LOT and some bits were back ordered. I think mine was 10 weeks.
