Hi , parts got mixed up on the table , now I have parts from a 74 400 and a 77 400 damper and I'm just trying to figure which piston goes with the 77 . As you can see , there's 2 types ( no 23 on the part list ) , one has a smaller aperture and the alu. end cap can't slide in , the other will go right in . The part list illustration is almost useless .

I know the KH400 and S3 used different forks, so perhaps the 77 KH inners wont work in the S series lowers? Just guessing, never had a set apart. Got a brand new set of spacers if you want them tho....

I want to use a complete 77 fork on my 74 rebuild , I won't be using any fork parts of the 74 in it , I want to get the bigger axle and the longer lowers .

I just installed the '76 unit on my '74.The lower tube has a higher fork seal but apart from the axle size there is no other difference. I put the '74 lower clamp on by drilling the holes out, they are farther apart, and added shims to the top clamp to accept the smaller '74 axle. Just waiting for Spring now!
