The frame end of the damper is rubber mounted so I don't see any benefit of the reinforcement. I had the secondary support power coated but after installing the new damper that H1B part is useless due to flex elsewhere clearly muting any stiffening factor.

I suspect Kaw may have added the additional stay more as a "safety strap".
Recently, while maneuvering my H1A frame during grit blasting the damper mount plate broke off. The failure occurred where the plate is welded to the gas tank stand off tube. The two welds here (on the backside of the plate) are very small and look more like tack welds. Kaw probably learned of this weak point from field reports, hence the addition of the L shaped re-reinforcement plate on the H1B.

Makes more sense than the way this was worded on the bulletin .Maybe they did not want to tell the real risk of a disaster, I'll check my welds and install it if needed. Thanks. kawtriple.com/mraxl/bulletins/73-h7.pdf

Had a closer look, it's good but if the stand-off came detached from the frame the tank lug would hold it-with my machine at least. Because of lc's failure I stuck the sucker back on rather than trash it. rt
