Just kick it over a few times with the plugs out.It will save you from boring and tapping. Better to push the crap out of the bike and dump the clutch but it's messy, but better to get the rpm's up to clean her out. Circa 2012 Paris, Zambia, fuel on the face, new shirt...

When you started chewing those liquigels, the look on your face was priceless..but when you actually contemplated rinsing your mouth with that can of pre-mix nearby...I knew it wasn't funny!

Easy to use drains have to be easier. I am going to look at welding up my 72 cases to add enough metal to tap each cyl case bottom.

Walms'z push method works well. Maybe see if you can't find some hose that will thread into the plug holes slightly, and aimed down low for all the splooge. Cracking the check valves may mess up the gaskets. Getting at the bottom of a triple engine isn't all that easy with the pipes on to crack 3 drain bolts. Most sled engines have drains, and even with the exhaust well out of the way those drains are a bit of pita to get at. I've used the push method, it works but you end up stinking of splooge, some hose or make up something would make it real easy and clean too.

Thanks, Donnie. I like the tubing idea in the plug holes. And you're right the check valves are a bit tough to access with pipes in place. With my Dencos the center was most accessible so I opened it up and just got small puddle of oil by the looks of it - no gas.
I removed the carbs and tried the turkey baster method (used a large syringe and tubing) through the inlet ports but again, I came up dry. I'm thinking now that I may just have had leakage and gas accumulation on top of the cases below the carbs (both drains through the cases were blocked with dirt).
I know I filled the tank before storage and it's down a fair bit so when I saw the open petcock I assumed the gas had made it's way into the cases since there was none on the floor. I recall now that I snuck it out for a ride on a nice day in the fall AFTER I'd put it to bed for the winter (and put it on prime to start to fill the float bowls). I guess I've reached the age where I'll have to start double checking everything - damn!
So, potential hydrolock problem averted and I get to clean up the carbs and pods before reassembly. I knew I should have started on this before the weather started getting nice...
Cheers, Neil

if you had a quad you could slowly tow with bike in 2nd or 3rd gear, carefully. Sounds a bit dangerous, make sure you record this event

Nah, I was thinking more of duct taping a cross country ski onto the front wheel, putting studs in the rear tire and towing with a sled while there's still plenty of snow on the ground. Gotta have 'er ready for the first sign of dry pavement...

Hey, finally after all these years, I have a good use for the treadmill that never gets used in the basement!

a good use for the treadmill that never gets used in the basement! the makings of a dyno. I guess it wouldn't take long to drill out 3 plugs and JB in some long hose to reach down low past the pipes.
