I was wondering, how do you guys restore the lettering on the handlebar switches and gauge pod after you repaint them black? The lettering is so small? And what are the correct lettering colors for a 75 H1F ? Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure about the correct colors. But I would use a tooth pick and a very small amount of paint to dab into the letters.
That's the way I would do it if/when I ever restore my bike.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using proboards

You can do a search on the K2S forum for threads on refurbishing control sets. A toothpick or paper clip make a fine brush to paint the different colors. As to correct colors, here is a link to the controls in mraxls resource site. 3cyl.com/mraxl/partid/controls/controls.htm

Sent from my SCH-I535 using proboards that`s exactly how I do them. I use a water based paint, so even if you make a mess, just wipe straight and flat across. As for correct colours? I`ve used white for horn/letters, yellow for indicators, blue for high, red for low/on. For raised letters in the casting, paint as per, then use a supper fine file or finger nail board to remove the paint from the very top of the letters. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the link, that's perfect. And water based paint is a great idea. So it can be wiped off without wrecking the black paint. Cool.

I use water based paints from the dollar store or Hobby shop. paint letters and any excess on black items can just be wiped off.

just like the guys said, but !! a repaint of those... and a reface of your meters becomes a must. I did my own, easy as pie. I made my own decals,(2nd best in the world) meter faces and repainted hand controls. Even repainted my tach and speedo needles The close up picture is bad, the real thing turned out perfect.
