This bike has been a work in progress.I've had it 4 or 5 years.First got it it had Denco's,velocity stacks, black paint and a bad trans(no not shift forks Lou ;D )I sent the motor to Texas to Maddog, had the turn stalks, kicker, grab bar,and stuff rechromed, did the paintwork and put her on the road by summer. img220.imageshack.us/img220/2656/oldbikepic9qr.jpg [/img] Next winter front end got torn off and everything got powdercoat or chrome that I could take off.New RB headstock sticker and painted the front half of the frame.Rode all summer.Made it to the drags............ This past winter I bit the bullet and stripped it to the frame.Everything that hadn't gotten painted or powdercoated including the frame got it.New NOS cables, hydraulic lines, cleaned up the wiring harness and dismantled, cleaned, sanded, polished, painted or plated every last piece before reassembly. It's a heck of a lot more work than I planned on doing but it'll be worth it when I jump on.

recently I saw an ad for a shop to rebuild a 650 Triumph for $ 17,000 US.
Just think if we kawi owners paid someone else to do the work . Other than chrome or paint work etc . Only the rich would own and ride Triples .
This was the very first triple I saw when i was young . Sitting in a real bike shop ( TY Motors on Dundas street east in Belleville) unlike todays shops ( sterile) and the sticker price was $1295 ..
Well I'm happy I now have the second bike I fell in love with , it's smaller brother . Maybe down the road I'll have a 72 H2 . and maybe a divorce as well...lmao
When your done post some finished photos so we can drool some more. Ian

My fave year for the H2, followed closely by the 75' (I like purple). Just wish I could afford one, or maybe find some sweet old Granny with an "old motorbike" cluttering up the shed.. ;D ;D SoupD.

How'd that drag race work out? Time, speed? Not well I'm sorry to say.Between my big heavy ass, never having raced a bike at the track and lack of clutch tecqnique I think I had one run in the high 13's.The others we won't mention.First run I bogged off the line by giving it too much clutch too soon.Second run I really gave it the gas and stood it straight up at the starting line and almost hit the guy with the button controlling the tree.Last run I slipped the clutch better and I think I got a bit of wheelspin and she pulled good for my only presentable run.The next week I ran my Z1 and was running mid to low 13's all night.I'll be back this year with fresh plugs and I've learned to grab a handfull of throttle this time.I think last year I was'nt getting the throttle opened up all the way.Someone in the meantime explained how to grab a handfull of throttle at the line.I think if I get the tecqnique right the H2 will be faster than the Z1.Plus I put a 14 tooth front sprocket on her this year. That ought to help get my big ass movin along. ;D

DJ: Re "time's , not well" -I've never been down a track before, must be a handful at times as well as a rush. I'm envious of you, on such a sweet old ride too, enjoy ;D

DJ - the bike looks great, and built to ride too, love it! Problem is, I won't post pictures of mine now because yours makes it look like a ditch pig. The only thing I'll be braggin' about is Rolland's paint!
Question for you: the little hose bracket on the main brake line from the MC - what does that bolt to? I've forgotten how it goes back on.
Thanks,
ian

As you can see from the pic It was a spur of the moment thing.I wore my good "sunday go to meetin" leather jacket and an old pair of work boots. But hey,it was fun. This year I'll be a bit more ready for it and hopefully won't loop it with that 14 tooth sprocket.

Oh yeh, just for interest..my avatar bike (that's Grandpa - not me) ran 11.98 in 1977. I was a really crappy racer, but the bike was wicked fast. Slipped the clutch big time off the line and just screamed through the gears after that!

Thanks, ian it goes onto the upper triple tree pinch bolt. That one had me scratching my head for a few minutes too.Luckily I took a pic for next time........
