After all that work.... it started!! ;D took about 3-4 kicks....and then there was a huge purple haze!! Tore up the street! Starts and runs nice... but alas.. bad, bad leak on right side base gasket.. WHY?? New gasket, nicely prepped, 30+lbs torque! Son of a ..

is it leaking from the right side shifter shaft i had a problem awhile bake and it was the shifter shaft seal was leaking around the outside diameter of the seal check if if it is clean it up and apply gray bond around the outer diameter and that will take care of it

Not the shifter shaft. The base gasket..and it's a big leak. I can feel wind blowing out between the case and the cylinder. If I jam a rag over it, the rpms pick up and the back-pressure from that pipe is much crisper. Oh well, off comes the cylinder . I'm glad it runs at least, and idles pretty smooth too. I was sure I would screw up something with carbs, petcock, timing etc... hey I'm a pencil-pusher! Clutch slips like heck - - got to adjust that Sytech release somewhat I suppose?
