Here's a couple of pics of my current project. I bought it decent original condition almost ten years ago for $600. With a carb cleaning it ran okay but could use a set of rings. The motor will come apart for a rebuild including the crank anyway. The '72 seat has since been recovered with the right cover and I have a grab bar and turn signals for it. I had the bodywork painted a couple of years ago. Rather than box up the parts and have a bare bike in my garage, I just put them on. I have been gathering NOS parts for to redo this one for years and I have just about everything now. I'll be starting the full resto very soon. I also have a restored green '74 H1E. i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii320/reprodecals/70H1_rh_sm.jpgi267.photobucket.com/albums/ii320/reprodecals/70H1_lh_sm.jpgWhen the '70 H1 is done my next project is not a triple but it is a Kawasaki. It's a 1970 A1 Samurai with a rotary valve twin. This oddball is a European version that has a points ignition and a lot of details that were different from the North American models. Even a speedo in kilometers. Those cheap aftermarket turn signals are already gone. I took this picture the day I brought it home. i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii320/reprodecals/70_A1_rh.jpgToo many projects. Too little time. Andre

Yes. The A1 & A7 have an airbox very similar the the triples. The weird part of this design is how the air goes through a passage above the crankcase and feeds a carb on each end of the crank. They are really easy to tune because the carbs are so easy to get at.

those pics make me wish we hadn't showed you how to upload pics and put my bikes to shame once again.
only kidding Andre, very nice stuff. Will we see you on the 9th? Maybe fathers day weekend (sat) at my place for the CVMG meet, we need all the triples we can get

Few years back there was a A1 at the Paris show...man I kick myself for not grabbing it...nice looking bike. I had bought a 350 bighorn at the Flamborough swap meet and sold it a few years later...didn't know they were sought after for road raceing... I have learned to never let the cool bikes slip threw my fingers.

Hi Don,
Would it be bad if I wasn't riding a triple? My 70 H1 won't be done and my '74 H1 needs some attention from sitting for several years. I'll likely be riding my TZR250 this summer.
Hi Lou,
I sold a silver 1975 350 Big Horn at Flamborough about 5 years ago. Maybe it was you that bought it?
I missed out on some cool stuff in the past. Then I started buying everything I wanted. Now I have to pass them up again because I have about 45 vintage bikes and there are still lots more I would love to own.

I thought your name was familar... I think it was more like 8 years and I loved that bike. Didn't know the great history they had or I would still have it. Unbelievable power! At one time I broke the 30 bike mark, to many projects and you just spin when you go to the garage... I started selling most of them off and then I started giving them away when we moved back into town. Nice to meet you again! Lou

That was my first bike a 1970 A1 250 . Paid $450 for it 74 . What a dependable bike and what fun i had !! ;D ;D ;D
Took my first lady for a ride and loved every moment when I hit the brakes as she moved forward pushing her Big Uns into me ..Sadly Deb passed away a few years later but she loved the rides. I'll try to scan and copy here of me and my A1 in 74 in a day or 2 .
