I don't have a reason other than that a skinny little aluminum/520 gave me a shiver up my spine that caused me to balk. If your concerned about weight maybe go tubeless.

i thought about cutting the bottom off of this one to get the same sort of look. anyone do fiberglassing? can you bond new fiberglass to old fiberglass? Trevor, you absolutely can. However, you do need to think about the best way of adding the new fibreglass to the old. I had good success with about a 1.5"-2" overlap in adding some length to my tailsection. I don't have any miles on this yet, so hopefully I won't have to skulk back here and say, "oops I was wrong". ;D i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm119/givrtriple/102_4619.jpg

ya, i've heard as long as your alignment is good, chain is good quality and lubed it will increase the life of the aluminum sprocket. (probably any sprocket) but steel probably would of been the way to go. i just checked out those stealth sprockets. pretty sweet! i'd need one for an fzr 1000 and found one from their site directly. www.supersproxusa.com/index.php$90 i think thats my next one! thanks Don
