Stick with it. I almost called it quits numerous times when building my pipes... Like you said, it can be very frustrating.

Oh i wont give up on it. Today is a new day and i feel better about it. Hopng to get the first 3 cones built and tacked into place by tonight, I went back to a non-fancy design, took out two of the twistys in it and ran it a bit straighter along the inside of the frame rail, suspected cornering clearance... Well i should be able to scrape off the mag cover and clutch cover before I touch the pipe.
Does anyone know of a ceramic coating shop thats reasonable and also good quality? After I get this pipe built and if it pulls like I want it to, its going for gloss black ceramic coating...

I should have worded my reply differently.. I know you never said anything about giving up. I know a guy who does ceramic coatings. He is the same guy I get to do my cylinder boring/crank work. PM me if you want his number.

No pictures, I dont want to post any until its done, but god dang is it ever looking SWEET
Lots and lots of tinkering around getting them perfect, I wont be surprised if I have close to 40 hours into this pipe by the time I am done.
For those who want to try building your own pipe, I recommend NOT to and buy Walms WTF pipes, you will have the pro's designing them and not some meat head like myself...

I saw that you posted this morning and I was going to say , what did yesterday motivate you or what, :-) well I didnt have to, you said it first. Great to finally meet ya Curtis, Thanks for the optimistic point of view on the hole in the piston, lets hope it melted a hole in it and not broke in to Peices, h2 dude gave me a piston to replace the old on with, maybe with a bit of luck , I'll have it up and running today or in the next few days, waiting for my buddy to wake so I can borrow his Torque wench. Walms is going to drop my bike off for me, I came home with Rocket.

Great to meet you guys. Don't let a bit of bad luck get you down with that piston WH. I'm on my second top end this summer and all is well!. Good luck with the 500 Curtis . Keep at it. A bit at a time till she's done.
Some of the best projects took a long time to finish.

Well, I got a lot done on the 500 today.
wiring harness, batter box, regulator, rear inner fender, seat, tail section, coils, carbs, cables, all removed.
The plan now is to strip it completely down to bare bones, get the swing arm on in the next few nights, finish up the pipe.
Then strip it down to bare frame, remove all the tabs I don't need. brace a few spots on the frame and then have it powder coated.
After talking to Zambia at the Dairy Dip, he had told me about "butch cut heads"
Are these beneficial at all, or are they more damaging then helpful?
Watch out Walms, my 500 is going to be faster then yours next year...

I think Karl's bike may go MIA with Walms..lol Don't forget to fix those mounting clamps Karl Yeah, I took a real liking to Karl's bike this morning.... I was sort of envisioning how it would look in my shed ;D ;D ;D Oh well, I ended up wimping out and delivered it after all...lol Karl, I read somewhere here today (can't find it and too lazy to look longer) that you could be just firing in a piston that you picked up from Ian? Just make sure you wash that crank up real well before attempting to fire the bike up eh. Maybe some of the smart fellers around here can give you some tips on the best method??? or maybe it isn't really a concern Personally, I would fill the cases with kerosene and drain a few times to get rid of the debris. Which might be easier to do with the motor out or you could vacuum it out some how?

After talking to Zambia at the Dairy Dip, he had told me about "butch cut heads" Are these beneficial at all, or are they more damaging then helpful? butch cut heads are for looks more than function...in fact some guys will tell you the process diminishes cooling (insignificant I would think). The hidden benefit is that the plugs are easier to change and putting a dial indicator is way easier -- check H2 motor clearance to the top of the frame...very tight. By the way, maybe someone can explain this...why does Givr's H2 motor in an H1 frame have significantly more space above the heads, than an unmolested H2? I find this very odd...is the H1 engine cradle taller?

Thanks for chiming in Zambia. Hey Walms, I would use more of a premix gasoline then a kerosene myself, I would pull all the jugs, and dump the premix right down the cases, drain, fill again turn over lightly by hand and drain again, re assemble.. Also Andrew, If you plan any 'secret opps' dont involve Rocket.. You will have to be gettin me to read your text message again because your too old to read it yourself!
