Ya, I guess we could do it in 3, but I'd say 4 days would be more realistic. I suppose we need to take into account where we're stopping each night. Are we talkin' the Soo on night 1?? If so, we'd better get an early start! That's a long haul 1700k = 1,065 miles Divide by 4 days = 265 miles pr day Say 15 minute rest stops while getting gas , oil the chain etc . Then there's scenic stops ..A MUST!!

Let's see, I'm 37, pretty sure Lancer is younger than me. If Dave (mr. ypvs) comes than I think he'd be the winner in the low 20's.
Been watching my DVD set of "long way round" with Ewan and Charley. What a fantastic trip. I don't think we'll need kidnapping prevention or combat training, but at least Lou will be with us. ;D He's got your back. Anyone of you guys know CPR? I have a St. Johns certificate and got to practice on a real live simulated torso!! , who's going to bring the stretcher and iodine? And the whiskey?
How about the oldest? I know some of you guys are 50ish. Who's in their 6th decade?

Might need combat training when we fill the Ferrys lower deck with 2 stroke exhaust ....lol

I'm in if you decide to do it in 3 days, I can take a day off and the weekend in the summer. There is no reason it cant be done in 2 days if your hardcore. We team up with CMGOnline every other year and organize the Mad Bastard Scooter Rally which is about 700 km depending on the route and it can be done in one day on a 50cc scooter in 20 hrs. My dad who is 62 has rode the event 3 times now all on a 50cc and finished it in 17hrs, and collected all the scavenger hunt points along the way as well. So there is no reason a bunch of tripples cant do 1700km in 2 days with ease. Check it out. cmgonline.com/content/blogsection/20/230/

I think the idea was to have FUN doing this . I've done 500-700 miles per day and Man Your DONE at the end of the day . There's no stopping for photo shots etc . There is no doubt the Triples could do it BUT This is not what the trip was about . An avearage of 300 miles per day should be OK . What do you think Guys??

Are we hardcore? ;D We'll have to see what kind of men we're made of. Also, Just looked at the route map, the long stretches of I75 and I69 are horrible, tons of construction and nothing much to look at either. I suggest the following revision: Look at your google map and follow along: Take I75 from Sault Ste Marie to Mackinaw City, then 31 -> 131 -> 72 to RB's. (Assuming RB is there and willing to entertain visitors and part scroungers.) Then from RB's 72 -> 131 -> 115 -> 10 ->25 thru Bay City and follow 25 along the Lake Huron coastline from Harbor Beach all the way down to Port Huron. Who's going to get lost first? ;D

Ya Ian, I agree. I'm not into making this a "speed run"! I wanna take some time to enjoy it all!! I think 4 days would be a great compromise! I'd find a way to squeeze 5 days, but I understand that others won't have that option. Sticking to as many 2 lane highways as we can is a great plan too, Givr!

I'm booked for the last week of July as this is the local Vintage rally and ALL the family will be there. The kids have been going to this since they were 3 yrs old .
How do these dates sound just to get an idea if there is a conflict with some. July 8th -12th July 15th -19th
Come Jan 1st I can book my V days
I like your Idea Givr ...long straight roads are bla most of the time
There are some NICE side roads in Michigan

I'm sure I can muster up 4 days... A perfect time for me is anywhere in the middle of Tweed and Paris. 3 weekends with you knuckleheads a year is enough eh! ;D ;D ;D Look at it this way, only 17 gas tanks between start and finish I'd like to consider motels as setting up tents is a pita and cuts into riding time.

Just re-thinking after posting last night... I'm not sure how comfortable I feel leaving my bike in a parking lot of a motel. We'd better get rooms big enough to roll the bikes in...lol
