Here's a picture of brother Duane's latest RD 400 project.Frame repainted etc... While engine was out,he rebuilt the crank and trans, and rebored the cylinders. And while he was at it, ported the cylinders. At the same time he CC'D the heads and did the squish bands on the heads, and blueprinted the deck heights.Using factory RZ 350 pistons with shortened piston skirts. The piston to wall clearance was set at one and half thou.Engine reassembled with polishing and detailing etc...He Fired it up and it runs like a top !! And really quiet. Now to continue detailing the rest of the bike.Chambers are on the bike, and carbs are jetted etc...More pics later as the detailing assembly process continues.

Thanks. Thought I would give brother Duane some encouragement for all his hard work. If you recall my post a few months back regarding the cycle used parts place that was destroyed by the fire in Montreal north ? He had a lot of good stuff left including RD 400 cylinders and more. We were planning to go there on a Monday to get some of the stuff before it was all gone !! The fire on that Sunday made sure the stuff was gone before Monday.I get sick thinking of all the good parts that were lost. It was great being able to go out there and fetch stuff when you needed it !!

Thanks.Yeah Duane has been burning the midnight oil and determined to get it up and running to ride before the end of the season. We might go for a ride on Saturday for him to put in some break in miles.I always liked those RD400'S.When I got my first tripe back in the mid 70'S three of my friends bought brand new 1976 Black and Gold ones.Somebody asking to buy Duane's bike already. But I don't think he wants to sell it.

Napierville Dragway is open till the end of October. The boyz are talking about heading out there to do some 1/4 mile thrashing with a few bikes !! Not sure if we will go yet ? But it might be a possibility ? Brought the RD 400 last time when it had the old and tired engine in it.And it cracked into the 13'S. At least we have a base line for comparison. Here's a picture. a picture.
