Here we go. I got an iggy switch and hooked it up. I get neutral light and headlight in the ON position but no generator light and no spark. All wires seem to be connected. Am I missing something obvious? I have to wait til the weekend to really get at it but wonder if anyone has an idea?

Assuming everything is hooked up correct, the switch might be the issue if its an old used one. I had that issue with old yeller. Took my new to me switch apart and cleaned and checked all the contacts, and it worked. Im sure there could be other issues, but ya gotta start some where.

What he said. Im guessing you checked all the wireing coming from the AC Generator and the coils?

Check all the ground wires and do all the impedance checks.

There is no generator light, so that takes care of that! Make sure the CDI boxes are well grounded. And then (as the others stated) have a look for continuity in the wires. Are th pickups gaped properly at the stator?

So you've got spark then! What did you do?
Have you opened up the carbs?

I have opened one and it was not too bad. I wanted to hear it run but I was too premature. I will now go about it in order like I should have in the first place. The guy who sold it to me said that it runs but it has been a year or so since that. My fault for listening to a seller.

I don't blame ya.. I've done the same thing hoping to hear it run without all the leg work...it's never that easy hahaha Sounds like you're heading in the right direction!

In 15 years of doing this professionally (as Walms would say, professional A-Hole) I have had it happen once - drain the carbs and drain the fuel with new fresh and new Spark plugs and it fired and ran perfect. Thatโs it,

You can take all the wiring out of the loop by disconnecting the black and white wire from the rectifier. You should have spark but if the bike starts you will have to stall it out. Brad
