I set aside my new carburetor project for now and threw the stock ones on with some sealer so I can at least get out for a few rides this summer and smoke out the town, but there's one thing that I've always wondered and this would be a great place to ask I'm sure. Whenever I check the charging voltage at the battery , I'm getting 16-17 volts and it's been this way since I've owned the bike, 10 years. It boils the battery a bit and I have to keep topping it up. I have read a few places that this is normal for the S3's , but I'm wondering if I could install a basic regulator / rectifier combo as I have one here that is brand new for an xs650, to have it charge at 13-14V and maybe keep a good battery

I've just looked at the wiring, yep, three phase rec/ reg will do the job with minor wiring mods
