With most of the parts painted, other parts sent off for Zinc and the frame currently being mended it's time for the nitty gritty work. I didn't want to go CRAZY so did a light restoration of the gauges and controls.
The original controls for the bike were in pretty bad shape with broken off switches so I found this half decent one on Ebay.
The inside was in half decent shape too with no broken connections or what not.
Everything disassembled ready for it's treatment.
I sand blasted the 2 half of the control cases with glass bead at 50psi to clean all the surfaces. I noticed a few scuffs which had to be sanded smooth.
I polished up the signal cases to a good clean polished look. I didn't want to over restore it to mirror finish.
Prepping the internals for re-assembly. Cleaned off all the connectors.
After cleaning and re-assembly.
I removed the original connectors so that the wires would slide into the new sheathing easier.
After a a wee bit of paint the LH controls are now ready to rock!
Funny how these projects keep growing as you dig into them. The faded needles in the gauges were driving me nuts so that had to be fixed. The gauge faces were still in pretty good shape so I left them alone..
After re-assembly.
Full gauge assembly completed.

A few updates....
The frame came back from the welders and after inspecting all his work I'm a firm believer that if you want something done right...do it yourself. The guy was a friend of mine who tried to help me out so I didn't have the heart to tell him what was wrong but regardless I wasn't happy.
Hopefully that doesn't set me back TOO much and I can get it resolved sooner than later.
In the mean time i took the frame delay to work more on the motor. The RH crank seal was leaking a wee bit so following Aylors instructions on his HOT TO video I swapped out the seal. The whole thing took me about 2 hours, but that was with setting up all my shots with the camera, and misplacing a part which took a while to find (of course it was right in front of me the whole time haha)
Clutch/Primary and Seal Removed
The Old Seal. You can't see in the picture, because I cleaned it up already, but there definitely was a path of ingress from through the seal with a fair bit of oil leaking back through the crank bearing.
annnnd... She's all done! Hopefully that does the trick.
Whipped up a short time lapse video for you guys as well.

Slowly picking away on the H2...
Got all the turn signals fixed up and installed, carbs installed. Although I discovered a bummed throttle cable so I'm waiting on that now. Also started to de-rust the fuel tank and prep it for paint which will hopefully go on in the next week or so...
To "de-rust" the tank I'm using pretty much the same process that I used on the RD350 project. Shake out all the loose stuff with media from a slurry bowl. Repeat until satisfied. Mix the media with "Sure Seal Dominion Rust Removing Gel" and shake it again to coat the inside. Once the gel is dry rinse out with water. Now that any major rust has been removed I've got it soaking in Evaporust to finish off the job and treat the metal.
Put on a spare tank / seat to check all the cables for clearances. Starting to look like an H2 again. Far cry from the SUPER retro paint job that came with the bike.
