The new baby arrives home. Lots to do but it is complete except for the rear frender as far as I can see. New learning curve coming up too. There is a big hole where the counter shaft should be. Oh yeah, and of course, no kicker shaft either. It will be hard to not touch it but I have to finish the H1A first.

The grips kind of slipped down in transit Ant. But, if you put drag or drop bars on, does it make it a poor resto??

If that means it's going to be ridden, drop bars will make it a perfect resto!

I won't get to it before the fall. Well, depending on how the rest of the H1A goes. It is the slowest yet because I am looking for stock parts.

Well, things are moving along, very slowly. I stripped it all down and painted the frame. It was easy. Then there was a hunk out of the top half of the case. Jim, Pipewelder, handled that for me in a couple of days. Then the fun begins.... I finally took the engine out of the frame, well before I painted it, and had a look. The engine supposedly has only 5000 miles on it. I brought the barrels to the local machine shop for inspection and hopefully, only a hone. There were a couple of broken out exhaust studs so he still has them since before Christmas. The transmission had a bad top gear on the main shaft which I replaced. I heard a little noise on one of the crank bearings so I brought the crankshaft to NH Cycle between Christmas and New Years. He called this week and said it is toast. He has another one for a decent price so it is cheaper to get that one and add new seals and bearings than to fix the original. The counter shaft had the sleeve under the front sprocket rusted/welded on but I finally got that of I hate to bug the local shops but they tend to take their sweet time doing things.
I guess I should be taking a few pics but then I would only hear comments on how messy my shop is. I hear them from Debbie already BTW.I got the parts for the front end today and will do that on the weekend. Likely I will get the crankshaft back within a couple weeks and get the engine all buttoned up. The tins are still at the painter's and only Heaven knows when they will be back. I must keep telling myself that this is fun.

Frame is painted. Wheels and ignition are on and wired. Got the crankshaft back and the cylinders bored this week. Big assembly weekend coming up. Oh yes, and wishing Debbie a happy birthday and taking her to dinner Saturday. The tins have been primed and hopefully final paint is within the next 2 weeks. I should take some pics..
Fun..
