I was doing some trouble shooting last night with a voltmeter. I suspect my battery has bad cell as with the ignition switched on the voltage dumps from 12.4 to 9.5 in 10 seconds or less. Any how. With the bike running & hooked up to a large charged battery I saw voltages of 17.5 volts at 4000 rpm. This seems a little hot. Shouldn't the voltage reg limit the voltage to 15-16 volts?

I believe that you are looking for about13.5 to 14.5 V

Yes,Johnny. And thanks to you both. I too just was looking at the Kawi triple resources site. I see some tests to try tonight. I think I should have a another old S2 regulator about as well. New NOS ones on ebay are pretty pricy.

Before you go buy a voltage regulator, install a new battery, then check your charging as a bad cell, the battery is weak and the charging system is over compensating for it...

Yup, I agree Curtis. I think I need to order the "right" battery as well. Looks like I'm supposed to have a 6AH battery and buddy sold me a 3AH.
