Got the KZ rear swinger fitted in and the wheel on. Just need my Ebay rear caliper and master cylinder and we'll be closer. I scored some progressive rear shocks as well. BTW, anyone have a 530 sprocket with the centre hole 80mm in diameter? My 42 tooth H1 sprocket isn't compatible with the KZ. The 6 bolt holes line up OK but the centre hole has a different diameter.

Anthony, what's the progress? I like the way this thing is going, and so far you're making it look somewhat easy; is it:
a) just that you're really, really good b) it is really, really easy c) almost impossible - but easy to "mock up" for the photos?

I'm still waiting for my sprocket from the dealership, and my brake parts from ebay vendor. It wasn't a hard swap. The fork tube diameter and spacing is the same as the H1. The forks are longer and stick out the top triple clamp, I had to lose the clubmans otherwise it would raise the front end too much. (weird looking) The swingarm pivot needed to be shortened by about a 1/4" on both sides. Since the swinger has roller bearings, I had to knock them out before cutting. Of course I ruined 2 of the 4 in doing so, but they're cheap so I didn't worry too much about it. The hard part (for me) was getting the inside shaft that runs in the bearings the proper length. I cut it a little short, but got a machined spacer in to compensate. Works great now.

They're the same diameter but about 2" longer than the original H2 tubes. I thought it looked like an H2 Chopper! We compensated by lowering the forks internally. If I remember correctly, we cut a little out of the springs and changed the spacers to gain the 2" back. The ride and handling are both great! A little stiffer maybe, but still lots of travel! I have after market Progressive springs installed. The brakes are amazing too! Once you've tried duals, you'll never go back!

It does have a disc. Some pics from tonight. Got my wirges back on. All in all, a pretty easy installation of 1980 KZ750-E1 components to H1D. 1. Bolt on front end, forks are long, bye bye handlebars, or rework internals. 2. Rear swingarm pivot narrowed by ~1/4" on each side. 3. 630 sprocket swapped with 530 offset sprocket JTR488 from JT sprockets.
