...what Walms said!. It can even be as simple as turning out the air screw..maybe 1/2 turn to start. It doesn't sound like a typical iggy problem to me.

Ok, I cleaned the carbs again and replaced one of them (thanks Neil). I thought I may have fixed it, I had it out on the road and it ran fairly well except it has no power at around 5k RPM and its hard to get off the line. It pulls very hard in the 6.5k-9k range. I didn't put the air filters on for the test ride and when I got home, it had spit gas/oil out the intake all over the engine and frame ect. I put the filters back on (UNI angled pods) and the same problem came back. Specs- 35 pilots 105 mains Premix I forget what notch the clip is on the needle. WTF spec chambers Uni pods. I am going to re check the ignition timing. Set timing to 25deg. Use #30 pilot jet.

^ Dale has the same pipes as you Dave, the jetting should be very similar

Gearing is another factor. If using S1 gearing it needs to be changed to near 3.0:1.

Thanks guys! I didn't think in the beginning it was a carb problem because they are unchanged from the last time I had it on the road a few years ago and it ran fairly well then. The only change is the air filters.
I'm using 13/40 for gearing.

I put in the 30's and raised the needle one clip, it made it much better, it's still not running well in the mid range though, I will have to play around with it.

I think you should drop the needle (2 positions now).

I think you should drop the needle (2 positions now). Wait... I dropped the needle... By raising the clip.

I think you should drop the needle (2 positions now). Wait... I dropped the needle... By raising the clip. I wondered if I was reading that wrong...there's a whole "triplers 3 stooges" routine around that...along with retarded timing...

I have from idle to 3k running well and 5k to redline running well. 3-5k is almost unbearable. I'm still playing around with it.
I set the pointer on the ignition rotor to 25 degrees, but my timing light doesn't seem to like it when I hold the revs at 4k. At idle it works.

Drop the needle again.
