If you have any plans to drive to the East GTA let me know. Otherwise lets try for a lunch next week. I may be able to scoot out there. You should leave the cases in the car. Can I get the cover to match fit at the weld? Sounds great - I will chuck it all in the car, including the generator cover. I expect this is a near impossible fix - but even if the gap just gets filled in, I will be very happy.

Great to see ya Ian.
Did you try fitting the covers with the lower case in place. I'm a bit concerned that the covers fit correctly when that lower case is snugged on there.
Let me know if there's any issue. Should be an easy fix if it's off a bit.

Hey Jim - I dry fitted the cases together....PERFECT.
Folks, I am going to post some pictures of this case repair as soon as I get a chance...but get ready to be amazed. We have a wizard of the dark art of aluminum welding...walking and riding amongst us. It's just our luck that he is also a triples guy to the core ...and a bit of Canadian racing scene encyclopedia too.

Looks fantastic!
Jim. Too bad your so far away. I have a "special" set of cases in need of a few welds. I'm absolutely terrified to let anyone weld them.
