I just recently acquired a 72 S2 and am in the process of getting her running. Bought a new battery, just fixed the petcock (probably temporary but it isn't leaking anymore). So i fill up the tank turn the petcock to run. i notice that fuel instantly fills the centre hose leading to that carb but nothing to the other two anyways i then notice that all three carbs are leaking. The thing is it appeared as though fuel was leaking from all the carbs but only the centre was getting fuel.
On another note has anyone posted a pdf of this bikes manual? I can't seem to get my hands on one fast enough.

I just finished my S2 restoration last week . I have a copy of Glenn's triple manual I can send via email. It was indispensable , mind you so was this blog and the folks who post.

PLEASE start by using the "New to triples" page. kawi2strokes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=5 If your S2 has been sitting for very long since it ran, you may be doing yourself and the bike a big disservice by running it without checking some things and rebuilding your carbs and probably the petcock as well. Thanks for your tips. I actually pulled the air box off and noticed that the slider number one carb (on the left if you're seated) is stuck full up so it looks like i better pull them. This bike had a few bad years but for the most part is in relatively good shape. Now i just hope i can find the parts i'll be needing.

This bike had a few bad years but for the most part is in relatively good shape. Now i just hope i can find the parts i'll be needing. There are lot's of part's that you will be able to find . First thing for sure is too pull all three carbs . Use the manuals as the others have suggested . Carbs will be the first source of trouble other than electrical . You may find gunk in there also . I boil my entire carb ( disassembled of course ) in lemon juice and the small parts also to remove the grime . You will have to check the levels of your floats also . Small small holes in the crabs get plugged over time . The old gaskets and even the new ones if not fitted correctly will leak on you . Try to save all original rubber part's . The new stuff just melts because of the ethanol in the fuel . Just a few tips to get you going . Go through the tips and trick sections to get way more info from the braniacs on this site Me ,,, I am not smart ,,, I'm just fast and crasy Have FUN !!!

Don't forget to check the floats! Make sure they are sealed. Submerge them in liquid overnight.

Remove the carbs and fully disassemble them. I find I like to boil the bodies in a mixture of water and simple green, when I remove them I rinse them off with brake clean and compressed air.
As for mains and pilots and needles and seats. For the price of mains and pilots ( litterally 5 bucks each ) just buy new ones. From a good supplier!! I am not a fan of "rebuild kits"
Needles and seats. Buy new ones as well, they are more expensive but being in the repair buisness for the past 10 years now and just opening up my own shop, I am a firm believer in doing it correct, the first time, even if it means spending a bit more money.

Pulled out all the carbs. sleeve for the choke in one of them was stuck, I mean really stuck. i was able to remove the cable but the sleeve is still stuck and I'm not sure if i can get it out. It's crazy because the carbs are quite clean. i guess it just takes one thing to throw the bike out of whack. Any ideas? Maybe I should replace the body if I can find one.

Try boiling the carb like a few of us suggested or let it soak a few days in wd 40 or another type of de stinky stuff thingys .. You have to be careful with those carbs . They are soft aluminium and it is easy to scrape , strip , gouge , twist , mangle important part's

For choke plunger, I would let a good penetrating oil soak on it for an hour or so. Then using a propane torch carefully heat around the body where. The plunger sits and providing you can get something on it to pill try that, if not. I would next drill a hole into the center of the plunger and use a good, straight flute extractor

Great guys! i managed to remove the plunger without damaging the body so that will be good to go soon. Unfortunately though the next carb float had pretty much disintegrated. Amazingly echo cycle in edmonton has them available of course at $57 a pop pretty spendy. the part by the way is #16031-016 through kawasaki.
