I am pretty sure Arturo Magni developed the parallelogram swingarm for MV Agusta/G Agostini in about 1966-67. Ago did not like it so it was only used 1 or 2 times.

Yeah, I think [maybe - from memory] I`ve seen some ancient Moto-Guzzi Falcone that used it too.

Still, those Italian jobs were likely closer - chronologically - to the Kaw FUBAR than Mert`s iteration, yeas indeed.. Who knows if they were derivations or parallel ideas that sprouted independently, likely if you kept digging...it will probablistically turn out to have been Nazi research or something..

This is probably a lot older than the 40's. The system was a way to have a moving drive/driven shaft that did not change the shafts center distance.

This is something I'd like to try on a small wheel base bike, understanding 4-link geometry in cars...it could be beneficial making the bike act like it has a longer swing arm under power. Roll centers are very important in drag cars. multi link suspension make it possible to change the roll center in ways that aren't possible with a standard swing arm. If you've ever wonder why a 400HP drag car can pull the front wheels, this is why. With a small wheel base motorcycle, keeping it very nimble in the corners but also keep the front wheel down.

I think if it was small wheel base bike, entire swinger out of aluminum and all on a roller bearing setup, not bronze bushings, it may function very well,

All that helps...but a multi link suspension would effect how the bike hops up, or squats...and make it adjustable

Yes essentially.
Except I would only have it adjustable on the axle side as its only for fine tuning, and completely out of aluminum

I haven't thought about it too much but off the top, wouldn't a 4 link better suit the negative effects of a shaft drive with all the torque trying to twist the suspension? The swingarm is essentially a ladder frame, a chain drive just doesn't need the adjustment that a shaft drive needs to put power to the ground.
