A trick old Gord Barr showed me with aluminum. I'm sure some do it and some don't but this seems to bring out the shine.
parts must be de-grease completely.,100%. Strip off clear coat if needed. Then if there are any deep scrapes that aren't too deep sand them out (WATERSAND ALUMINUM FOR HEALTH REASONS) with around 400paper. It's a beggar if you use too coarse a paper and 400 is almost too coarse but you need to remove a little surface metal to get rid of scratches and deep scrapes. Then maybe some 600 on the scratches you just removed. Next use 1000 paper and WATERSAND the entire piece till it is completely dulled. Do the same thing again with 2000 paper. Sand lots with the 1000 and 2000 paper. Pick a polish, I'll leave this up to you, ther are jeweller's rouge, mothers paste....and so on. I just use autosol and my buff wheel on the grinder and polish till your happy. You should be able to see your ugly face in the part when finished. Clearcoat is optional. Maybe a guy like Roland could suggest a brand of clear that will stay on aluminum.
I did a mag cover that had serious road rash, deeeeep 10-15 deep scrapes. Now there is no rash, although if you examine the part close you can see a bit of concaving from the amount of aluminum removed, plus I had to pound out the dent first. This part was junk and now it would be OK for most applications except a total restore.

H2's vibrate pretty good... Just duct tape a pail on the back of your seat, fill it 1/2 full of crushed walnut shells, a couple of corn husks and your parts... In about 750Km you should be good to go... ;D

I guess those parts weren't dented when you started? I'm jealous because even though the shine on my covers are good, you can see the deep gouge marks and scrapes that more clearly! Oh well, at 100 ft, you can't tell the difference! LOL ;D Good stuff there!

Andrew..WTF is that reflection of ? I wouldnt recommend any automotive clears incase they fail. anodizing works but dulls the shine a bit. Btw ...i was told to polish with flour/ rag last to remove residue ;D

semichrome's nice, just seems the answer is in the time not the bottle. Then constantly oiling of some sort to keep it right. I have found "nortons " black ice 1200 grit is reeeely good paper, stays sharp!!! walms if thats you and its not cold you poor fella
