We have been getting a lot of stuff shipped to us (in AB) from down east (ON, PEI, etc.) because our prices apparently are about a third of what the ON platers are charging. And even when customer is paying shipping, it's still cheaper. A couple examples of our prices are, 2 aluminum lower legs = $250.00, 1 steel spoked rim $300.00 - $350.00 (spokes $4.00 each). A rigid Harley frame runs around $800.00 We do NOT plate aluminum rims of any sort, car or bike. www.albertaplating.comIf this type of post is not allowed here, I won't be offended if it is deleted.

A typical shift lever without the extra linkage is $20.00; add another $15.00 or so for the linkage. Brake (foot) levers typically $30.00 - $40.00.

What about a set of chambers for a triple? Or dare I ask??? IIII'd have to know a couple things like dimensions, condition, and how much polishing is required. The quality of finish in a chrome job comes from the prep and polishing that happens before plating and that's where most of our costs are so the more prep and polishing we have to do the more it costs. Most folks think we just dip the piece and it magically comes out all smooth and shiny but in reality anything less than a 400 grit wetsand will show after the piece is plated. With our basic plating, you can typically see polishing lines and with our show chrome, which adds 30% to the cost for the extra plating and polishing, you generally shouldn't see many polishing lines. If they are all fresh welded and we just do a light skim polish over the piece, then our basic pipe prices would be used... Basic pipe prices adjusted for only polishing half the pipe: 1' of 1" pipe = $20.00 1' of 2" pipe = $40.00 1' of 3" pipe = $60.00 1' of 4" pipe = $80.00 If you look at a set of stockers, they only polished about 90% of the "out" side of the muffler and none on the "in" side.

Relik, I do stock restorations and require plating that is basically industrial grade. My bikes are ground up restorations to original specs including imperfections and in some cases, poor finishes. To me, it is important that the manufacturing marks and flaws are not smoothed and the part is not plated really thick like the Harley guys want. After a lengthy explanation, my plater gets what I want and does it although they don't like to. If you are able to do this, I can send a small batch of parts for starters. If it is what I am after, I can send lots more. I have a few restorations that I am working on, and several more that will be restored. Andre

This was the last batch of parts I gave to my Buddy at work, I give him a print of the pic so parts don't go MIA, also helps to identify what kind of plating I want, Chrome, Nickel, Zinc, etc.. He has a contact at a platers in London who do these small runs when they are not busy. They do clean up the worst of the boo boo's, but for what it costs I dont expect to get triple showchrome, I also like to spend some time prepping them myself .. This batch cost me $50, ( yes, fifty Bucks).. SoupD.
