Try Pine Sol, it's amazing how well it works. 1 part Pine Sol and 2 parts water and let soak over night and makes the garage smell pine fresh. Interesting. How do get the pinesol off the aluminum . Do you rinse it with water and then WD 40 ?

I used the vinegar method when I built my B over 3 years ago, the carbs still look new. I only soaked 24 hours after a complete clean with carb cleaner. I used pickling vinegar as it has a couple % more acid than regular. After soaking in vinegar a thoro wash in the kitchen sink, and a good blow dry. Then I submersed them in a clean can of diesel. Removed and blew dry the diesel off.
Then take a small rag and Autosol and polish the mixing tube area until shiny inside, top to bottom. This will make the carbs "Snap Shut". did the fuel enrichener holes too so when carbs are turned upside down both slide and plunger fall out.

I boil mine in a salt water solution approximating ocean water. The process is very similar to the video. But first, I clean them by holding them from the underside, legs spread, and cracking there backs open over a sharp rock. Then scoop out the brains and slime before immersing in the boiling salted water. Oh wait, this forum was about CARB cleaning, not CRAB cleaning. Happy April 1st!

Hmm, if you have to boil the beaver in vinegar it must be past it's prime! Best served fresh and clean... like Sushi!!

Tried the hot vinegar on an old DT 250 carb. I had cleaned it 3 times, still not right. To the $ store for a pot,$2, strainer $1, metro for 2 liters of vinegar $2. Boiled it on the BBQ for about 15 min. washed with water and sprayed with WD. Reassemble , buff with brass brush for appearance and she fired right up! Thanks for the tip. PS the vinegar removed the black paint B
